The Century Race

Motorcycle Cannonball…the words strike images of riders hurling at incredible speeds in a race across the continent.  The motorcycle cannonball however, is a test of endurance more so than sheer speed.  Inspired by turn of the century enthusiasts who dared pilot the “new technology” of their day – Motorcycles – from coast to coast.  One such daredevil, Erwin “Cannonball” Baker, is the namesake of the modern motorcycle cannonball endurance run.  After running cannonball events in 2010, 2012 & 2014, organizers decided to embark on something truly unique and exceptional.  The 2016 Cannonball would be heralded as “The race of the century”, with only motorcycles aged 100 years or older eligible to participate.  I am one of the fortunate few… one who will be granted the opportunity to endeavor in this exceptional quest.  I, with the assistance of an outstanding support team, will pilot my 103 year old Douglas motorcycle from coast to coast!  I am Steve Alexander, rider #103 in the 2016 Motorcycle Cannonball!  Follow our journey here…cb alexander

    1. Rich we have a FB page “motorcycle cannonball team #103”. We’ll do most of our posting on this blog and the FB page. I had not thought of putting up a team instagram so we’ll probably do that so we can just link up pictures easier and more quickly. Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll post back here once it is set up.
